ROHM Semiconductor RPR-0521RS Proximity & Ambient Light Sensor

ROHM RPR-0521RS Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor integrates an optical proximity digital ambient light sensor (ALS) IC and an infrared LED (IrLED). The proximity sensor detects an approaching person or object by the reflection of the IrLED light within a range of 1-100mm. RPR-0521RS ALS part detects the wide range of illumination and rejects 50Hz/60Hz light noise. This sensor can adjust the illuminant intensity of the LCD display and the keypad. ROHM RPR-0521RS enables lower current consumption and/or improved visibility under the bright environment. This sensor is compatible with I2C bus interface and 1.8V logic interface. Applications include smartphones, digital still cameras, portable games, camcorders, PDAs, LCD displays, and more.
